About the role

You'll be Punchlister's first engineering hire. You'll work side by side with the founders to build the platform: you help decide what gets built, you build it, and you make sure it works.

Punchlister's founders ran a Belgian construction company before building software for the industry. They know what a site report looks like, how extra work gets priced, and how many evenings a project manager loses to admin. Punchlister is the tool they wished they'd had. It turns voice notes, photos, WhatsApp messages and emails from the job site into site reports, extra-work items, tasks and documents, and pushes them into the tools contractors already use, like Robaws and Odoo.

Punchlister is onboarding new customers at a high pace and ships new features every week. Now the team needs an engineer to build the product with them.

What you'll do

  1. Build features from start to finish. Together with the founders, you turn a customer need into a clear feature. Then you do everything it takes to build it, front end, back end and database, and get it running on the Punchlister platform.
  2. Own releases and version control. You manage the Git workflow and the path from development to production: what gets released, when, and how. You put the guardrails in place (reviews, checks, rollbacks) so a release never breaks the platform for customers.
  3. Make the product testable. You set up automated tests, so every release is checked before it goes out and the team knows what ships works.
  4. Work with AI models. You compare and score LLMs on Punchlister's real tasks, so the platform always runs the model that performs best for each job, at a cost that makes sense.
  5. Build integrations. You connect Punchlister to the ERP systems its customers use, and to document and data platforms, through APIs and MCP.
  6. Set up how the team works. You help set the engineering standards and put the processes in place (code review, testing, documentation) that let Punchlister grow into a software team.

Who you are

Punchlister is a small team building fast. It needs someone who doesn't think in boxes. If you're used to a narrow role in a big organisation and want to keep it that way, this role probably isn't for you. If you want to have actual impact and ownership in a fast-growing company, this role is exactly what you're looking for.

Your experience

  • Several years of building web applications, both front end and back end
  • Strong in TypeScript, React and Node, and comfortable with SQL and Postgres
  • You've built features on top of LLMs that real users rely on, not just prototypes
  • You write automated tests, so new features can be rolled out faster and with confidence
  • You use AI coding tools every day and know where they go wrong
  • Fluent Dutch and English are a must. French is a nice extra.

How you work

  • You're fine with little structure, and you're happy to help build it
  • You pick up what needs doing, without waiting to be asked
  • A challenge outside your comfort zone motivates you
  • You care about the details: customers rely on the platform for their daily work

Nice to have

  • Experience in an early-stage startup, or as the first engineer somewhere
  • Integrations with ERP systems or other third-party APIs
  • Some feel for construction, or another industry where the work happens away from a desk

What Punchlister offers

  • An inspiring place to work. Punchlister is based in the Wintercircus, the former circus building in the centre of Ghent that is now the city's tech hub. You share it with around 50 startups and scale-ups, and with the events, talks and bars that come with them.
  • The newest AI, in production. You test and choose the latest LLMs and AI tools yourself, and put them to work in a product that construction companies use every day.
  • Build the engineering team from day one. The standards, processes and tools you set up become how engineering works at Punchlister. As the team grows, your role grows with it.
  • See your impact within days. You talk directly to the project managers who use what you build, and see your work used on real projects shortly after you ship it.
  • A fair salary package. A package that fits the role and is competitive within the industry. The details are discussed in the interview.
  • Equity. As one of the first people at Punchlister, you get the possibility to share in the value you help create.
  • On-site & hybrid. Time together at the Wintercircus, flexibility for the rest. The rhythm is agreed together.

Business Development Manager

Sales & customer success · Full-time · Wintercircus, Ghent · on-site, hybrid & with customers

About the role

You'll be Punchlister's first commercial hire. You make sure every customer gets real value out of the platform, and you bring in the next ones.

Punchlister is onboarding new customers at a high pace. Now the team needs someone who stays close to those customers and helps the company grow.

What you'll do

  1. Onboard new customers. You get each new contractor up and running: setting up their account, connecting their tools, and training the project managers and site managers who will use it.
  2. Make customers successful. You stay in close contact after go-live. You check how teams use the platform, spot where they get stuck, and help them get more value out of it every month.
  3. Be the voice of the customer. You bring what you hear on the phone and at the customer's office back to the founders, so the product keeps solving the right problems.
  4. Find new customers. You look for contractors who fit Punchlister, through your network, LinkedIn, trade fairs and referrals from happy customers, and you book the first meetings.
  5. Close deals. You run demos, follow up on proposals and close new customers, together with the founders at first and more and more on your own.
  6. Help build the commercial side. You help set up the CRM, the onboarding process and the playbooks that let Punchlister grow a commercial team.

Who you are

Punchlister is a small team building fast. It needs someone who doesn't think in boxes: if something needs to happen, you make it happen, even when it isn't strictly your job. If you're used to a narrow role in a big organisation and want to keep it that way, this role probably isn't for you. If you want real impact and ownership in a fast-growing company, this role is exactly what you're looking for.

Your experience

  • You speak the language of contractors. You know how a construction company works, from the site to the office, through work at a contractor, as a supplier to the sector, or in software sold to it.
  • A few years of experience in customer-facing work: account management, customer success, sales or project management
  • You're comfortable picking up the phone to someone you don't know, and you enjoy closing a deal
  • You use AI tools in your daily work and aren't afraid to try new ones
  • Fluent Dutch and English are a must. French is a nice extra.

How you work

  • You're fine with little structure, and you're happy to help build it
  • You pick up what needs doing, without waiting to be asked
  • You keep your promises to customers and follow up on time
  • You're as happy at a contractor's office or on the road as you are behind your laptop

Nice to have

  • Some technical affinity: you understand how software connects to other tools, and you're not scared of a setup screen
  • Experience with ERP or construction software such as Robaws or Odoo
  • A network in the Belgian construction sector
  • Experience in an early-stage startup

  • Sell a product that solves a real problem. Contractors feel the admin pain every evening. You bring them a tool that gives them that time back, built by people who come from the sector.
  • Build the commercial team from day one. The processes and playbooks you set up become how Punchlister sells and supports customers. As the team grows, your role grows with it.
  • Work with AI every day. You see first-hand how AI changes an industry that has barely been digitised, and you use it in your own work.
  • A fair salary package. A package that fits the role and is competitive within the industry. The details are discussed in the interview.
  • Equity. As one of the first people at Punchlister, you get the possibility to share in the value you help create.

How we work. Three things we hire for.

Close to the site

We don't build from a meeting room. You come along to job sites, talk to project managers, and understand the problem before you solve it.

Fast and finished

Small team, short lines, real users waiting today. We would rather ship something good this week than something perfect next quarter.

Care for detail

A wrongly dated report is a legal risk. Precision is not a bonus here, it is the core of what we sell.

The process. Short, honest, and with real people.

  1. You send your CV

To hello@punchlister.ai with the role in the subject. A link to something you built or sold helps a lot.

  2. Intro call

A call with one of the founders: about you, about Punchlister, and the problem it solves.

  3. Working session or case

A practical task as close to the real work as possible: building something, or a mock demo or onboarding plan for a contractor.

  4. Decision

Fast and clear. We always aim to give feedback, regardless of outcome.
